Bulgaria is preparing for a historic sporting event – for the first time, the country will host the World Jet Ski Championship. This prestigious hosting was won in fierce competition with established powers in the sport such as France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Belgium. The attractive race will take place at Sarafovo Beach in Burgas between July 8 and 12, 2026.
The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, who is also the patron of the event, confirmed the municipality's full readiness to co-organize the large-scale forum together with the local club 'Aquatrax Racing' and the Bulgarian Powerboat Federation. Federation Chairman Todor Hristov emphasized that the successful partnership with the local authorities over the past five years was key to attracting a competition of such rank, which will bring significant international publicity and economic benefits to the entire region.
Expectations for the scale of the championship are impressive. Over 300 elite competitors from around the world will test their skills in the waters near Burgas, and organizers predict over 5,000 fans will attend the stands every day. The choice of Sarafovo Beach is not accidental – the site was approved for its excellent logistics, suitable natural features, and high safety standards for participants and the public.
In addition to high doses of adrenaline during the races, the program includes rich cultural events aimed at promoting Burgas as a leading tourist destination. Global resonance is guaranteed by a team from Eurosport, which will broadcast the competitions live. Forecasts indicate that footage from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast will reach an audience of over 100 million viewers worldwide.
